GEKKO Control

The labeling runs imprecise. What are the causes and how can I fix this? ?

The causes of imprecise labeling can be located at various points on the device. The following are the most common causes with their (often multiple) solutions. Just check the following points at your device:

Cause 1: The label carrier drive is not set optimally.
Solution 1: Loosen the existing band brake to such an extent that the tape remains streamlined.
Solution 2: For large and heavy label rolls provide a prewinder with loop control, or a roll-off pendulum with pulley-man.

Cause 2: The label scanning (sensors) does not work correctly.
Solution 1: The label sensor should be cleaned because it is dirty.
Solution 2: Set the label sensor mechanically on straight (perpendicular to the running direction) label edge.
Solution 3: Setting the label sensor to the carrier tape so that this is certainly detected. To do this, remove the label if necessary. The label will be then reliably scanned.
Solution 4: The label is not optically captured. This can happen especially with transparent labels. In this case, use either a mechanical scan or an ultrasonic sensor.

Cause 3: The labeling speed is not optimal.
Lösung: The product rate should be equal to the labeling speed. If the labels are wrinkled, increase the labeling speed so far that no more wrinkles occurs, but at the same time the label is not ripped from the carrier tape.
At speed synchronization calibrate to synchronization.

Cause 4: The product scanning does not work as desired.
Solution 1: Check the product scanning.
Solution 2: Select a reproducible scanning point at the product.
Solution 3: Select an appropriate sensor from (light-barrier with button, against reflector, transmitted light, background suppression).
Solution 4: For products such as reflective foil packs provide a starting barrier against unwanted multiple starts.

Cause 5: Lack of drive performance or pollution of friction.
Solution 1: Clean the friction roller from adhesive residues and other impurities. Solution 2: If the labeling machine though often sticks, the drive performance is not strong enough. In this case a more powerful labeling solution is required.
